The Reporter/Producer will create and edit stories intended for digital and broadcast distribution around the topics of Central Texas workforce and career education. Reporter/producer will also assist in short and long format special projects as needed. This reporting is supported by a grant from CPB’s American Graduate: Getting To Work initiative and is funded through March 2021.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Research segment content, pitch story ideas and participate
  • Arrange shoots from initial contact through completion
  • Edit engaging pieces that make use of music, graphics and animation
  • Deliver files adherent to production specs and/or platform requirements
  • Work closely with the Production Coordinator to schedule personnel and equipment
  • Work closely with Project Manager to ensure grant compliance
  • Responsible for archiving and maintaining an organized media workflow
  • Maintain files including records and releases relevant to material produced

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Strong sense of journalism ethics and storytelling skills
  • At least one year experience in professional audio and video editing and post-production standards for web and broadcast
  • At least one year experience in post-production in a PC based non-linear environment, including Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, After Effects & Photoshop)
  • Proficient in G Suite tools
  • Strong communication skills necessary to interact with other departments and the community
  • Desire to have an impact through public media
  • Strong background in media/data management
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Strong communication skills necessary to interact with other departments and the community
