Innervisions Gospel Choir - Representing from Deep in the Heart of Texas

Almetris Marsh Duren was a pioneer in education simply because she shepherded the first African American students through the state’s flagship university, serving from 1958 through 1981. She didn’t stop there, and initiated many other innovations at the University of Texas at Austin, including the Innervisions of Blackness Choir in the mid-1970s. The choir survives today as the Innervisions Gospel Choir. Here, the Innervisions Gospel Choir performs “The Negro National Anthem.”
