Q Night at the Movies features Fail Safe 04/11

Q Night at the Movies presents a night of politics and presidents. Our feature film, starring Henry Fonda as President of the United States, follows a potential nuclear crisis in Cold War America in Sidney Lumet's Fail Safe. Before the film we have back-to-back On Story interviews, including a discussion on the making of LBJ. After the movie, we first profle Fail Safe's director and then one of its co-stars, Walter Matthau. It all starts at 7 p.m. Saturday on Q.

On Story at 7 p.m. Actor Woody Harrelson and director-producer Rob Reiner discuss the biopic LBJ.

On Story at 7:30 p.m. Writers Beau Willimon and Eli Attie debate politically driven narratives, power struggles and the truths and fictions behind ideologically charged stories; Topher Field's The Hustle.

Feature Film Fail-Safe at 8 p.m. During the Cold War, U.S. bomber jets are equipped with fail-safe boxes that instruct pilots when and if to attack. When an attack order is inadvertently administered due to a system malfunction, the President of the United States (Henry Fonda) must scramble to fix the mistake before the bombs are dropped on Moscow. He manages to stop almost all the bombers headed for Moscow, except for one determined pilot who manages to complete his mission, with deadly consequences.
