Q Night at the Movies presents Awakenings. Starring Robert DeNiro and Robin Williams, this 1990 film is based on the true story of a group of patients who, following a devastating epedemic, remain catatonic for decades until Dr. Sayer (Williams) wakes them up. Speculating that their rigidity may be akin to an extreme form of Parkinsonism, he seeks permission from his skeptical superiors to treat them with L-dopa, a drug that was used to treat Parkinson's disease at the time.
