Q Night at the Movies features Yentl 04/24

Q Night at the Movies presents Yentl, starring Barbra Streisand, Mandy Patinkin and Amy Irving, who was nominated for both an Oscar and Razzie for her performance as Hadass. Before the movie we hear from screenwriter Brenda Chapman. After the feature it's a look at noted theatrical director, and father of Liza, Vincente Minnelli, followed by the creation of a Shakespearean ballet. It all starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Q.

On Story at 7:30 p.m. Writer and director Brenda Chapman talks about what influenced her writing in the animated classics The Lion King, The Prince of Egypt and Brave.

Feature Film Yentl at 8 p.m. Rebbe Mendel is a single father who teaches the Talmud, a sacred text of Judaism, to the boys of his small Polish town. Behind closed doors, he also instructs his daughter, Yentl, despite the fact that girls are forbidden to study religious scripture. When Yentl's father dies, she still has a strong desire to learn about her faith — so she disguises herself as a male, enrolls in a religious school and unexpectedly finds love along the way.

Tempest Rising at 11:02 p.m. Dancer and choreographer Roger Creel creates a ballet version of Shakespeare's The Tempest with the Louisville Ballet.
