A Goodbye From CEO Bill Stotesbery

Posted on Aug 24, 2021

When I joined Austin PBS in 2004, I never thought I would stay anywhere for 17 years… but serving as YOUR General Manager has been a true privilege every day of each of those 17 years. At the end of September, I will be retiring. As Austin PBS starts its next chapter with a new home at Austin Community College Highland, the time is right for me to start a new chapter in my own life. I feel excited about retirement while also reflective about my time here. And I’m ready to become the biggest cheerleader that Austin PBS has ever seen.

Because of viewers like you, our incredible Central Texas community and the great team at Austin PBS, the future is in good hands. Every major change that has happened at the station has been toward better serving Central Texas, from expanding our programming and local productions, launching digital channels, moving Austin City Limits from Studio 6A at The University of Texas to The Moody Theater downtown in 2011, to our 2021 move to ACC.

I believe in public media. I believe in Austin PBS. And I sincerely believe that none of this work would ever be possible without viewers like you. Thank you.

I look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood!

Sincerely,
