Austin PBS is Moving Forward — New Update

Posted on February 28, 2020

At Austin PBS, we are committed to collaborating with a wide range of organizations in our community. Each year our list of partners grows as we find new groups to work with in order to ensure we’re serving our region as thoroughly as possible.

One of the most exciting collaborations is Austin PBS’s move to a new home in the Austin Community College Highland Campus. We have long worked with ACC on initiatives that help build a better community. Now, the station’s move into ACC’s visionary redevelopment of the former Highland Mall allows our combined resources to create a unique moment with transformational possibilities for both organizations.

Austin PBS will be getting a modern, state-of-the-art broadcast facility designed for the digital age offering the community greatly improved visibility and access (including parking). ACC will be getting internships, fellowships, work study programs and opportunities for hands-on production classes and attendance at Austin PBS events.

Together, ACC and Austin PBS will work on curriculum, content and collaboration, helping to develop a new generation of journalists and storytellers trained in how to use the power of media for positive community change.

Austin’s Mayor Steve Adler said, “We’re taking two of the most trusted institutions in our city and they are joining together. This is one of those homegrown collaborations that is truly one of the transformative moments happening in our city.”

We agree, and we couldn’t be more excited!
