Austin PBS has curated trusted local and national resources to help our community navigate challenging times with care, compassion, and connection. We’re here to support you.

Helping Children with Tragic Events in the News (Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood)
In times of community or world-wide crisis, it's easy to assume that young children don't know what's going on. But one thing's for sure -- children are very sensitive to how their parents feel.
Community Violence (Sesame Street)
Whether children are directly or indirectly exposed to violent events, there are ways to help them feel safer and more secure.
Draw Your Feelings Page (Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood)
Daniel Tiger explains that you can have lots of different feelings when something difficult or unexpected happens.
Grief (Sesame Street)
Your love and support can help children understand death and cope with grief.
Meet the Helpers
Many children have questions and can feel uneasy when emergencies occur in their communities. The Meet the Helpers toolkit is designed to introduce “helpers” and explain the role they play in emergency situations. Included in the toolkit are videos and hands-on activities that provide educators and families with developmentally appropriate resources for young children.
All of us at Austin PBS want to express our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by this tragic event. Our hearts are with you during this difficult time. We are honored to serve this community and will be here to support you every step of the way—today and as you move forward in the recovery ahead.
