Q Night at the Movies features The Birdcage 06/12

Q Night at the Movies presents a star-studded cast, including Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest in The Birdcage. Before the movie hear from the screenwriter of Gladiator and The Aviator. After the feature, take a look at the career of legend Betty White, followed by the music of Michael Kaeshammer. It all starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Q.

On Story at 7:30 p.m. Producer and screenwriter John Logan talks about working in multiple storytelling mediums, writing for actors and bringing his vision to stage and screen.

Feature Film The Birdcage at 8 p.m. In this remake of the classic French farce La Cage aux Folles, engaged couple Val Goldman (Dan Futterman) and Barbara Keeley (Calista Flockhart) shakily introduce their future in-laws. Val's father, Armand (Robin Williams), a gay Miami drag club owner, pretends to be straight and attempts to hide his relationship with Albert (Nathan Lane), his life partner and the club's flamboyant star attraction, so as to please Barbara's father, controversial Republican Sen. Kevin Keeley (Gene Hackman).

Betty White: First Lady of Television at 10 p.m. A look at Betty White's life and career features behind-the-scenes clips of her work on television and comments from her friends and co-stars.

Michael Kaeshammer: Boogie on the Blues Highway at 11 p.m. Pianist/vocalist Michael Kaeshammer performs with his band at the Charlie White Theatre in Victoria, B.C.
