Start Counting with Critter Friends

Posted on March 10, 2026

Happy March! As Spring starts to, well, spring, we’re excited to introduce you to a new short series. Count on June Bug makes early math skills both fun and approachable for kids ages 3 to 5. This comedy adventure is broken into three-minute episodes that follow June, a spunky beetle who is curious about everything in her big world. Every day, June and her friends explore different areas of the great outdoors, encounter sticky situations, and make new mathematical discoveries that help save the day. Join as June Bug measures with CeCe Centipede, counts with Antwon the Ant, and learns patterns with the bee twins, Zig and Zag.

After you’ve explored this new series, keep the math skills coming with a fun and easy activity to do together. Draw a ladybug and practice counting with their spots to keep young ones engaged and critter-minded! Then, play a game featuring June Bug and all her friends at the Count-y Fair!

For caregivers, we have a great article outlining easy ways to add math to your daily routine. It can be a challenge to get kids engaged with math, but there are some really simple (and fun) ways to have them keep practicing their skills without making it feel like homework.
