The Austin Media Center is now open!

Posted on Aug 31, 2022

Saturday, August 27 was a very special day for Austin PBS as we celebrated the official opening of the Austin Media Center!

Austin PBS President and CEO, Luis Patiño, was joined by Board Chair Ryan Nixon, Mayor Steve Adler, State Representative Sheryl Cole, Austin Community College Chancellor Dr. Richard Rhodes and ACC Board of Trustees Vice Chair, Dr. Nora DeHoyos Comstock for a ribbon cutting ceremony that symbolized the beginning of a new partnership with Austin Community College and our shared commitment to education and to connecting a diverse and changing Central Texas community through meaningful communication and engagement.

The doors were open to the community and we enjoyed a day filled with activities for all ages throughout the building. New friends from across Central Texas enjoyed exciting story times and PBS KIDS character meet and greets, studio tours and opportunities to engage with locally produced Austin PBS content, performances and more. We were honored to host a very special story time with Luci Baines Johnson and Daniel Tiger in our new studio.

Outside of the building, we had games, food trucks and live music all day! Even RB, ACC's Riverbat mascot, got in on the fun. Thank you to all our sponsors, partners, volunteers and community for supporting us on this very special day!
