Audio Intern Spring 2025

Job Overview:

Under the supervision of the Production Coordinator and the Lead Audio Engineer, interns will be responsible for assisting staff with Austin PBS productions.

Role & Responsibilities:

The internship program is designed to provide opportunities for students to learn about various phases of broadcast and live event audio which can include:

  • Pre-production
  • Studio production
  • Studio events
  • Field production
  • Post-production

For qualified interns working at Austin PBS, the following duties will be required but are not limited to:

  • Observe and/or assist the audio staff in various aspects of audio production such as preparing input lists, preparing stage plots, mic selection, mic wrangling, mix and record for broadcast, mix for audience (Front of House), mix for bands (Monitors), final recording mixes, sweetening, file delivery.
  • Attend and participate in assigned studio and field productions when available
  • Other duties as assigned

The interns will work closely with production executives, producers, and production crew to gain a better understanding of audio production for live events and television. In providing an opportunity for students to learn production from these various areas, interns are desired to have the following skills:

  • Interest in broadcast and internet media
  • Interest in live music
  • Familiarity with Austin PBS shows (watch TV!)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working individually and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with Google Office Suite, Internet

Skills & Requirements:

  • Student must be available to commit to a minimum of 14 weeks (January - May) for this internship
  • Internship will be in person
  • 15-20 hour a week commitment
  • Pay rate is $20/ hour

Physical Demands

The working conditions are primarily a general office setting. Some light travels to the office.
