Production Intern Fall 2024
Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the VP of Production and the Production Coordinator, interns will be responsible for assisting staff with Austin PBS productions.
Role & Responsibilities:
The internship program is designed to provide opportunities for students to learn about all phases of production including:
- Pre- and Post-production coordinating
- Research and story development
- Studio production
- Field production
- Video logging/editing
- Assist the production staff in various aspects of field production such as field shoots, logging video files, internet research, and other duties as assigned
- Research show topics via newspaper, magazine, online services as well as initiating telephone calls to applicable guests
- Attend assigned studio and field productions when available
- Attain skills to assist in the producing of segments, which will include field producing, logging and editing of applicable segments
- Provide clerical and administrative support for the production and management of local Austin PBS productions
The interns will work closely with production executives, producers and production crew to gain a full understanding of television production. In providing an opportunity for students to learn production from these various areas, interns are desired to have the following skills:
- Interest in broadcast and internet media
- Familiarity with Austin PBS shows (watch TV!)
- Excellent communication skills
- Comfortable working individually and as part of a team
- Familiarity with Google Office Suite, Internet
- Excellent research skills
Skills & Requirements:
- Undergraduate student, enrolled in courses during the duration of the internship
- Student must be available to commit to a minimum of 14 weeks (September - December) for this internship
- Internship will be in person
- 15-20 hour a week commitment, preferably daily
- Proficiency in Excel, overall familiarity working with Microsoft Office
Physical Demands
The working conditions are primarily a general office setting. Some light travels to the office.
