Production Coordinator

Austin PBS seeks a full-time Production Coordinator to assist the VP of Production in the daily administration of department functions and to support Austin PBS productions. Primary duties include scheduling of facilities, crews and other resources for Austin PBS, coding timesheets/payroll, and helping hire and supervise student interns. Will assume some duties of the VP of Production when the VP is absent. Must be able to function in a high-pressure environment and be part of a creative media team. Applicants should demonstrate a background in production, digital, and/or social media, as well as a mastery of required skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Schedule Production personnel, work-studies and interns
  • Assist in the scheduling of Austin PBS facilities and resources and maintain department calendar
  • Determine appropriate studio setup for productions including equipment, set and crew
  • Process department timecards for all hourly production personnel
  • Support program production when needed and performs all related duties, including filling in for production crew positions on an emergency basis
  • Complete invoices, reports, travel expense forms, personnel forms, crew schedules, requests for payment and petty cash
  • Maintain files and obtain supplies
  • Attend all necessary staff meetings
  • Serve as liaison with producers/clients for studio productions
  • Instruct and collaborate with crew to communicate desired production outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job requirements:

  • Experience working in television, educational video services, or similar positions in film production or video game development
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Must have strong and effective interpersonal communication and motivational skills
  • Must be proficient in Google Apps for Work
  • Knowledge of post-production of graphics and video in the non-linear environment, particularly Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop).
  • Knowledge of television production concepts, principles, methodology, and techniques
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours (weekends, nights) as needed. Hours may fluctuate due to production schedule.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Will supervise interns and semi-regularly supervise crew members and technical operators.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree or certificate in RTVF production, video production, photography, journalism, or other similar related fields (or the equivalent combination of education and experience)

This is a full time salaried position that is currently hybrid. Salary of $50,000. Benefits
