Meet Phoebe and Jay!
Posted on February 3, 2026
This month, PBS KIDS is excited to share the premiere of a brand new series, Phoebe & Jay. This animated program for kids ages 3-5 is designed to support early literacy skills by showcasing the various kinds of texts they see in everyday life- from signs and posters to labels and movie tickets- helping them understand, navigate, and participate in the world around them.
Phoebe and Jay follows the adventures of 6-year-old fraternal twins who live with their family in the always exciting Tobsy Towers. Whether using a flyer to help a neighbor find a lost pet, reading clothing labels to find the right size shirt, or using a chore chart to tidy up before a surprise guest arrives, Phoebe and Jay model for young viewers how they, too, can develop important life skills and engage with others in their family and community.
After you’ve watched the premiere on February 2nd, play a brand new themed game! Phoebe and Jay’s Dance Party lets kids get the twins ready for themed dance parties by finding inspiration from their surroundings, making posters, sorting, dressing up, and learning cool moves.
You can also help your young ones continue learning about letters and reading after class with a fun letter maze. Put away the flashcards and worksheets and incorporate learning into activities instead! All you need is some tape, markers, and a little imagination to practice letter recognition to solve a maze.
Phoebe and Jay love to connect with their neighbors, it’s important to teach kids about the importance of community. Use this simple guide to get your children thinking about who their community is, how they can show up for others.
