Marketing & Communications Intern Fall 2024

Job Overview:

The Marketing & Communications Intern is responsible for supporting the Marketing Manager and Project Manager in facilitating marketing activities in support of Austin PBS brand communications and promotions, with an emphasis on digital strategies and digital messaging. You will gain experience working across a wide range of marketing functions, including elevating the organization’s brand and promoting our mission within the digital space, driving traffic to the organization’s website, increasing engagement on social media and growing our subscriber and supporter base. Be a key part of a motivated team of communicators in promoting Austin PBS’s local and national programs, community engagement and education, major events and development efforts. Reports to the Marketing Manager.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Helps support and execute brand and marketing strategies to grow awareness of Austin PBS and increase engagement.
  • Participates in all Marketing initiatives for Austin PBS and bridges collaboration within the organization on cross-departmental initiatives through co-ownership of marketing calendar where appropriate.
  • Supports Marketing Manager in developing and executing CRM and email marketing and website strategies; including newsletters, blog and other promotional station communications.
  • Assist in the measurement, tracking, and analysis of KPIs that assess marketing effectiveness across platforms
  • Helps support Project Manager in day-to-day operations of all Marketing projects; including project immersion, ideation, specification, design, development, and delivery.
  • Assist Project Manager in monitoring project progress and tracking deadlines to ensure teams stay on-track.
  • Help Project Manager anticipate and communicate delays that may occur across our project queue, and apprise the team of any changes in the project needs.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred
  • Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a desire to learn along with professional drive
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and current trends
  • Basic understanding of analytics tools (Sprout Social, Google Analytics)
  • Creativity and a passion for all forms of digital marketing
